Giving it up 4

Today is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the season of austerity for Christians awaiting the Easter celebration of Christ's death and resurrection.  So if you missed getting you freak on for Fat Tuesday (Mardi Gras) you may be out of luck for some time.

Lent is a time for reflection, repentance, fasting and most notably giving something up that one probably shouldn't have been doing in the first place.  Being a writer, I relate every event, even those I don't officially celebrate, to my writing.

So, for the next 40 days, I am giving up procrastination.  It has been a life long problem with me and from now until Easter I am focusing on my schedule, writing my pages daily and not letting life and every other dang thing interfere.  In addition, I'm going to take this time to start a daily chakra clearing meditation that takes eight weeks.  This will last longer than the Lenten period, but I'm feeling ambitious.

Now, it's your turn.  What could you stand to give up for the short span of 40 days to improve your writing or your writing career?  What personal goals can you start to work on now?  Post it here.  Inquiring minds want to know and, if possible, help.

I came over from fiction folks. I must give up my aimless wandering as it pertains to my writing. Haven't paid attention to my WIP for ages and ages. I plan to set a complete by date. Good luck with your scheduling.

Thanks for visiting, Joy. I applaud you for wanting to set a firm date for finishing. Try to set some minigoals for yourself, too to help you keep track of your progress.

As far as my scheduling goes, I'm trying. ;)
